Call centre jobs: Can you pursue them as career?
These days, call centre business is very popular and is growing very rapidly. Call centres are emerging as an industry in countries like India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh and many others. IT jobs in Pakistan are increasing in this industry as well. Many multinational organizations and companies from developed countries outsource their call centre business to these countries due to cheap labor and better inputs. Generally, there are two types of operations in a call centre. One is inbound and the other is outbound. Inbound is related to the queries of the clients or potential customers from the company regarding its products and services. On the other hand outbound is related to sales and promotion activities of the products and services of any company.
For both, some specific skills and training are required. In inbound operations, an agent must have the complete knowledge regarding the company and its products & services along with good communication skills. For outbound operations, an agent must have good communication skills and convincing skills because in these kind of call centers, sales and promotional activities are involved.
From the last few years, it is very common that students and many jobless youngsters are willing to do jobs in Pakistan in any call centre. Call centre jobs are easy to find, if you have good interpersonal and communication skills. In most of the call centers, you have to deal with the foreign clients and for this, the fluency in English language is a must. Students prefer these jobs because they earn handsome money to meet their everyday expenses from call centre jobs.
Timings at the call centre jobs are very long and most of the call centres want you to work at night shifts but for this, they offer good packages. Some offer a fixed salary along with the basic salary and commission for every sale you make. If you are energetic and able to do evening or night shift jobs after your educational activities, then call centre jobs are a good option as a part time job.
In my opinion, call centres jobs are good for students as a part time job, and for those people who do not have any job. Although in call center jobs, good money is involved, but still growth opportunities are very low. If you work consistently and prove yourself as a reliable worker then you can become a team leader. After proving your worth as a team leader, you may become an operational manager. However, there are very few people who reach at this level. Being a professional job seeker, a very few people consider call centre jobs as a full time job. One thing is for sure that call centre jobs are a good source of income.
